Gooberfied.OrgMy name is April, and I'm Awesome
I had planned to make this entry a vlog one since they seem to be all the trend (LOL) but no…its not. A simple good old text entry is what you’re going to get!
So, yesterday was my first day of University as a part-time student. And it was amazing! High school sucks in comparison by far. I’m not just talking about the fact that you don’t have to wear a uniform..I’m talking about everything. It’s so much more sophisticated, advanced and mature. A breath of fresh air from the school where spitballs are commonly found on whiteboards and the middle school toilet doors don’t lock (ew). It was such a tease! Like a little sneak peek into the world I’m meant for, but not officially going to be apart of until next year (GAH).
So anyway, I had never made it to the orientations (stupid, I know) so I didn’t know this campus from a bar of soap. My mum was supposed to come with me to fork out the cash for my textbooks (ha) but there turned out to be absolutely NO parking whatsoever. Everywhere was full. And so, she simply left me out the front of the building to fend for myself (I make it sound so much worse than it was…my mum was actually very sorry she had to leave me) and I ended up asking some people how the hell you actually get inside the campus. They were kind enough to show me to the Bray Center Student Centre where I was fitted with an ID card (which looks absolutely terrible by the way! Never have I had such a bad photo!). After this, I had about 40 minutes until my first lecture so I went exploring.
First things first…find out where the bathrooms are. I was amazed..so CLEAN, so STYLISH, so ADVANCED! The taps were sensored….all you had to do was swipe your hand and they turned on. Heck yes! After this little encounter, I explored further into the campus where I found the library. Since I work in a library, this was a very important part of the discovery and my god was I impressed! University libraries are amazing! Not even kidding - they’re HUGE. I even got a little lost in the mazes of journals. In other words? HEAVEN.
Lets skip ahead a little further…my lecture. There are at least 100 other people in my lecture class and it was a little daunting sitting there with all those older people around me all seeming so much more sophisticated than me. I was like “GAH!” and kept my head down. My lecturer is really nice though and I really look forward to my Semester with her. After my lecture, I had an hour to spare so I ate some food and sat and listened to my iPod because I didn’t bring my laptop and didn’t have a textbook to read over…great. But I think I blended in sitting on the floor against a wall where various other students were lazing. I was totally chilled and nobody guessed I was 16 until I told them. I felt VERY grown up. ![]()
My tutorial class is really cool. It’s small and personal and I like it a lot so far. My tutor is really nice and the people in the class are also really cool. I’ve definitely found some people to chill with I think. I also got very into the discussion we were having on different news types etc…etc…. Oh, for those of you that didn’t know…I’m doing a Bachelor of Journalism bahaha.
My first day as a uni student went splendid. Expect more entries on this subject!
